Private Photo 3.1.0.170
Private Photo is one of the Windows Phone utilities that can prove of great help for those who are looking for a simple way of stashing away digital images and protecting them with a pass code.
Appealing interface, easy to work with
The simple front-end has a pretty nice feel to it and moving through menus and lists of items stored inside is quite fluent. Also, the graphics are well designed, with a decent look that is consistent from end to end.
The arrangement of the protected items included in the secure albums can be easily modified, as there are two dedicated button in the upper part of the screen that are dedicated specifically to these purposes.
Import pics and secure them with two types of access codes
Private Photo focuses on making sure your personal images remain private and cannot be viewed by anyone else, so it enables you to protect them with a numeric password or using a pattern based access method. A password recovery method is provided, but you have to supply a valid email address for this purpose.
A great feature of this utility is the ability to set up a fake account, with a decoy access pattern, so if you are forced to log in, you can use the secret swipe and show others there is nothing stored inside.
When it comes to adding the photos to the secure storage, you can choose the ones from your local image library or capture new snapshots, as the app can use the phone's camera for this purpose.
Unfortunately, there are some limits in the trial version, as you can make at most 2 albums with a maximum number of contained items of 4 per each collection.
View pictures up close, one by one or in slideshows
This application makes it possible for you to check out each image added inside its vault and you can zoom in and move the photo around with common touch gestures.
Another neat feature of Private Photo is the ability to display all the pics inside a collection as a slideshow, providing some basic controls for moving to the next or previous item and pausing the slideshow with one tap.
By selecting some images from an album you can export them to the local storage, where they are unprotected or you can move the pics to a different secure location, inside another collection.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The pretty nicely done GUI with its cool graphics are a definite advantage that help the app score very well here. |
Function8
The utility offers good protection for the items it has in store and also has some welcomed extra options. |
Security9
The application seems fairly safe to install and use, as it only looks inside the phone identity area for some reason. |
Battery6
The above moderate battery usage is due to a power consumption that goes, at times, beyond average levels. |
Price9
To fully benefit from the features of Private Photo users have to purchase the full version and add as many pics as they want. |
Compatibility10
The app will run without any issues on most Windows Phone devices out there, as it only needs version 7.5 of the OS. |
