Privacy Protector Pro 2.5.0.0
Mobile users are no exception, on the contrary, since they are among the most exposed, the need for a good security solution is even more dire. Windows Phone users have quite a few specialized tools to try onto their handsets and one of the possible choices is Privacy Protector Pro.
Tidy appearance, with a well organized layout
The looks of this app are quite clean and the graphics are carefully drawn, so as to offer a pleasant experience from the visual perspective. The functions and commands are all at hand, neatly tucked inside the main menu shown in the lower part of the screen.
Moving among the various sections of the utility is hassle-free and the content inside the image folders or the video and audio areas is loaded without any visible delays.
The only nuisances that may bug you from time to time are the prompts to rate Privacy Protector Pro that appear at startup and the offers to try out other apps when exiting the utility.
Cast a protective veil over all your multimedia content
The encryption used by this application is strong and the pattern-based method of access will ensure that no unwelcome visitors can roam around your pics, clips and sounds. There is also a security question you can configure on the first run and modify later if necessary.
The utility can accommodate all your photos and it is ready to help you organize them into several folders. Unfortunately, there is a major drawback when creating the image containers, namely a limitation that prevents you from giving a name longer than 6 characters to these folders.
Also, if you think about renaming or deleting the "Default" folder in that area, you are out of luck there because you cannot perform any of these operations.
Built-in video and audio recorders
The feature set of Privacy Protector Pro comprises two neat abilities, namely that of capturing video from the phone's camera and the sound recorder function. Both of them will keep the output inside the dedicated area, so it is locked by default and cannot be accessed from outside the app.
In case you want to move these files to the local storage, there is an "Export" option that does just that with the selected items.
A word of advice for those who leave the application running unlocked: your files are exposed if someone has access to the phone and opens the utility from the list of recently used apps.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The looks are nice and the content is kept in good order, easy to manage and retrieve, while the only sources of discontent are the prompts to rate ht app and try other utilities. |
Function7
Privacy Protector Pro can keep images, video and audio clips pretty safe, but it has an easy to spot breach in its armor, not to forget the annoying length limitation for folder names. |
Security6
Despite its profile, the application is a bit intrusive as it requires access for some reason to the owner and phone identities, as well as to the phone dialer. |
Battery6
With a quite considerable thirst for power, this utility drains the battery relatively fast as the usage levels are high at all times. |
Price9
The functionality is offered freely by Privacy Protector Pro, but there are some pushy reminders for trying out other apps and even a dedicated section inside the GUI. |
Compatibility9
Ready to be installed and put to work on the more modern devices, the application needs a handset powered by Windows Phone 8 or above, |
