Point Forecast Lite is a utility addressed to Windows Phone users and it is especially tailored to take care of this particular task, as its name suggests.
Decent looks and easy to use GUI
The app comes with a fair interface that includes some decent graphics and a nice looking background, which is pretty much well-suited with the purpose of the utility. The map navigation is good, without long delays when loading the data, while browsing the various sections of the application is fluent.
All the functions are readily available and the general as well as the detailed weather information is well structured and presented in a clear fashion. A noticeable annoyance is the presence of some animated ad banners that keep on changing at the bottom of the screen, following you in every corner of Point Forecast Lite.
View location coordinates and weather data at a glance
Using this tool is a very simple job, as all you have to do is press and hold a point on the map to have its coordinates displayed promptly and tapping on that pin you will access the weather info area.
The quick overview includes, besides the coordinates and elevation values, a 24-hour prognosis split into 3 intervals, each with a very short description and the low or high temperature value at the bottom.
A more detailed forecast is available form the next screen and it spans over a whole week, but still, do not expect anything more than some general info on the aspect for the upcoming weather.
Pin places to the Start screen and get extra details from additional links
Point Forecast Lite enables you to add the favorite locations to the home screen of the app, but this version is limited to a single entry on that list. If you want to have quick access to the data corresponding to some of those places can pin them as tiles to the Start screen.
In case you feel like you need more information on the upcoming weather simply pay a visit to the "Links" area when looking at the details for a certain location, as there you will find some shortcuts for satellite imagery and other online resources related to that area.
