Photo Transfer 1.0.0.2
Called Photo Transfer, this utility allows devices connected to the same WiFi network to view the pictures stored on the Windows Phone it runs on, download them and upload new pics as well.
Simple GUI made for effortless operation
The utility comes with a friendly interface that contains clear instructions on how to use the app and it has all the commands at hand, so you can access them in no time.
There are some annoyances that appear in the form of flashing advertisement banners displayed in the lower part of the screen. Here and then some prompts to rate the application and to try other utilities will also come into view.
Preview the pictures and transfer them on the go
Photo Transfer can be operated very easily, as all you have to do is simply open the app and the photos stored on your device will become available for anyone who opens in a web browser the URL address displayed in the main screen of the utility.
While viewing the image thumbnails and going through the photo folders on the phone seem to work perfectly, the same cannot be said about the transfers from the phone to the PC. More precisely, when opening the directories where the images are kept, you will notice that only the last four can be previewed and downloaded.
While you make a selection and download the ZIP file to the computer, the archive cannot be read and will appear as broken every time you will try to open it. Fortunately, uploading pics from the PC to the phone can be done without any kind of errors.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The looks of Photo Transfer seem pretty decent on the whole, especially since users will be able to view the instruction they have to follow in order to make the transfers happen. The presence of the adverts and of the prompts are a disadvantage for the application |
Function6
The idea behind this utility is great, but the implementation has a long way to go before the app can become fully usable. The failure in packing and downloading the images from the phone makes it lose a lot of points. |
Security10
Even if the application allows two devices to exchange data, it proceeds in a safe manner, without going inside any sensitive areas of the system. |
Battery7
While Photo Transfer is working, the battery consumption is moderate for the most part, only when the transfers take place will is rise above that mark and the power usage will become a lot more evident. |
Price8
Based on a really good idea, this app could help a lot of users exchange pictures or save them to their PCs, but the failures in operation and the annoying ads make it lose a lot of value. |
Compatibility8
Appropriate for use on Windows Phone 8 and an above handsets, the application needs a minimum screen resolution of 480 by 800 pixels and it only pairs to devices that are connected to the same WiFi network. |
A brilliant concept that needs to grow into a fully functional app
