Passwords 1.0.0.0
To provide Windows Phone users with the protection they are after, plenty of specialized tool have been created and one of the applications that might help you in this respect is called Passwords.
Uncomplicated GUI with a decent graphics
The utility comes with a very simple interface, that lacks visually appealing elements of design, but the graphics are not completely displeasing, as there are many icons that can be assigned to the stored items and which are carefully drawn, despite their simpleness.
The freshly created items are kept in the same space with the existing ones, as there are no filtering options, nor will you be able to create custom folders to store the passwords.
This means that the entries are shown inside the main screen in the order you add them in, with the latest additions towards the end of the list displayed inside Passwords.
Add and edit entries on the fly
When it comes to creating a new database item, things are very simple and you have to fill in only 3 data fields, with a fourth one available as an extra option. To be more precise, you will have to specify the "Account Label", the username and password, while the description is not mandatory.
You should note when adding the fresh entries or while editing them that there are some limitations that pertain to the length of the label, where at most 12 characters can be used and also to that of the description, which cannot be longer than 40 characters.
Master password setup and data reset options
The application's main security feature relies on an access passcode you can set up from the initial run, as you are prompted to and which can be changed later on from the "Settings" area of Passwords.
An extra safety measure is the security reset function that comes activated by default. It doesn't prevent someone to enter the app's database, instead it wipes the data stored in there in case the master password is entered erroneously 4 times in a row.
A more effective security feature is the fact that each time Passwords is accessed, from the list of installed apps, from the recently used apps list or via the Start screen tile the master password will be requested, so no one can look at the stored data if you accidentally left the utility running.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The looks of this application are less attractive and with a more practical aspect, the numerous icons being the only upside from this respect. |
Function7
The security measures are very good, but there is a risk of having someone erase the stored data and users cannot create custom categories. |
Security10
This utility remains very discreet at all times, without going anywhere near the sensitive areas of the system. |
Battery6
The power usage is significant for the most part, as the app takes up quite a bit of power to function properly. |
Price10
Everything about Passwords is free, as there are no costs and the utility lacks nuisances of any sort, so its value is excellent. |
Compatibility10
The majority of Windows Phone handsets on the market can accommodate the app without any issues, as it only requires version 7.5 of the OS. |
