Password Manager 1.3.0.0

Lock all your credentials inside a dedicated app that serves also as a password generating tool
A lot of users are rightfully worried about the safety of their personal information and the most exposed bits of data seem to be the usernames and passwords used for logging into online accounts to access various services.

Those who want to have their credentials stored safely and close at hand at all times can try one of the apps designed to run on their Windows Phone powered devices. Password Manager is one such utility and its name says pretty much all about what it is meant to do.

Dull looks, bent on practicality

The somber and simple interface of this application lacks any visual appeal. Instead, the intuitive layout provides quick access to all the modules of the app, so that you will not lose a moment trying to get to the desired section.

The smooth navigation through menus and functions seems to be one of the very few positive characteristics of Password Manager that is worth taking into consideration, insofar as its design is concerned.

Safeguard your logins and generate strong passwords in the spot

This app works in a really simple manner, as all you have to do is assign a name to the new items you create, write down the username and password, choose the category and add an URL address and optionally some remarks before saving the information.

There is a built-in password generation feature that you can use for creating 20-character passcodes that may contain lowercase, uppercase, numbers and special characters. Once you press the "Generate" button you will be offered the option to save the newly created password to the system clipboard.

Hits & Misses

hits

  • has its own password generating utility
  • very low battery usage

misses

  • poorly designed interface
  • cannot add new categories
  • created entries cannot be renamed
Bottom Line
Design / UI3

The interface looks indeed poor, as it merely displays several sections of the app against a black background. The fact that its users can browse the functions and stored items seamlessly is the only advantage it has in this respect.

Function6

Password Manager is very easy to use and adding new items is a very simple task. Nonetheless, the free version doesn't support renaming the already created entries and new categories cannot be added, so it loses quite a few points for missing these features.

Security6

Given the utmost simplicity of this app that is only meant to be a secure password repository, it is quite unusual that it demands access to the phone dialer, multimedia libraries or the owner and phone identities.

Battery9

Barely noticeable when running, this utility has a very reduced power consumption, which means it is very friendly with the handset's battery.

Price8

Users who need a simple app that can safely hold their credentials and create some random passwords on the spot will certainly be happy to come across Password Manager, even if for a couple of features it is necessary to purchase a license.

Compatibility9

The application should be able to run without any issues on all Windows Phone 7.5 and above devices, as it merely needs a screen resolution of 720x1280, 480x800 or 768x1280 pixels.
