Origami 1.0.0.6
Through a dedicated Windows Phone app everyone can now discover the secrets behind creating some really interesting paper models by simply folding the sheets of paper.
Attractive front-end with clear-cut graphical explanations
The pleasant interface of this application comes with a neat set of graphics that represent various types of animals, objects or flowers you can learn how to make. There are two main categories of origami lessons you can check out, namely the animated one and the schematic instructions.
In both cases, the directions are shown in a very easy to understand manner, especially when it comes to the animated tutorials, where each step can be replayed over and over again until you get the hang of it. The only hindrance you will come across are the ad banners displayed inside most areas of the app.
Create a variety of origami objects following a set of clear instructions
Using this app is very simple, as it offers a generous space for the preview area where the designs are explained. The schematic instructions may seem more difficult to follow, but after a few tries you will surely see how to make the needed folds in order to get to the final result in just a couple of minutes.
The navigation between the various steps of the process is done by pressing the large buttons shown in the lower part of the screen. In the case of the animated origami lessons there is a third button, between the other two that you can use to reload the current step.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
This app has a really nice look to it and a smooth feel when going through the lessons. The clean graphics and the accurate design of each origami are also worth mentioning as advantages, while the presence of the adverts counts as the main and perhaps only visual letdown. |
Function8
The limited number of origami models and the need for a more detailed depiction of the process are some of the things this application has to work on. The existing models and the methods for describing their conception are nonetheless well worth a try. |
Security7
Even if this should be a simple app meant to be a study tool for paper folding, it needs a lot more than basic access to your phone as it requires clearance for accessing the contacts and phone identity. |
Battery8
As long as you keep the app open and follow the instructions to create the origami models it contains, the power consumption will be moderate for most of the time. |
Price9
A very good resource of knowledge for users of all ages, Origami offers all its capabilities freely, so its overall value is very good. |
Compatibility9
Designed to run on most Windows Phone devices, this utility needs version 7.5 or above of the OS in order to function properly on the supported handsets |
