My Device 2.0.0.0
For such purposes, Windows Phone users can try out a freebie that goes by the name of My Device and which offers a fast overview of the handset's components, while also being able to go in-depth to provide particular details for several components.
Cool appearance and decent organization
The application offers you a pretty simple GUI, with nice graphics inside the main screen and featuring a befitting background image that fits the overall theme of the utility.
Going through the various sections of the app has a fluent feel to it and there are no lags or other similar glitches. The information is well structured and presented in a clean and easy to understand manner.
Advertisement s are scarce and appear only in certain areas of My Device, so you will not be hindered too much by their presence.
Browse the device info in the spot
The utility identifies the system components and reads the system data as soon as you start it, so you will receive the summary of the phone general info in the main screen in a split second.
The main problem with this application is the lack of accuracy in identifying certain components and even the phone model. Since it hasn't been updated in a long while, My Device is not familiar with the latest Windows Phone devices and even fails to provide correctly the screen resolution for Full HD displays.
The information it does mange to read aright refers to the device RAM, OS and hardware versions, as well as available space, power source and battery level. The theme and accent colors as well as some cell phone network details are also available.
Sensor detection and testing
With this app you can put to the test some of the built-in sensors of your handset, as My Device features an accelerometer tester, a localization module and all the other sensing elements are lined out in a separate section.
There is even a quick check-up button for the vibration, if your phone supports it, so you can immediately verify if it is working properly.
Exporting the information is, unfortunately, not supported by the utility and no sharing possibilities are available either, at this time at least.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The interface is friendly and quite nice to look at, but some details are shown truncated, while a few ads are included as well. |
Function3
The detections are off for the more recent handsets and the sensor testing abilities are the only ones that score some good points. |
Security9
The application will access every system area to retrieve the info it needs, but this is to be expected from such a tool. |
Battery5
My Device will require quite a bit of energy to function well, so the power consumption is pretty high at all times. |
Price9
Everything inside this app is free to access, but if there are no costs for the actual features, users have to tolerate a few ads and some inaccurate data. |
Compatibility10
The utility can run on almost every Windows Phone powered device out there, as it will require at least version 7.5 of the operating system. |
