For those who find the default Music app on Windows Phone not enough for their expectations, they have several alternatives to try and one of the utilities that might just fit the bill is Music Player+.
Simple and clean interface, made for ease of use
The application greets you with a tidy look, lacking eye-candy elements of graphical design, but still with a decent appearance from end to end. Moving around the GUI is done fairly smoothly and without major delays or other types of flaws.
The commands and controls are easy to access, even if they are rather few in number, while a welcomed customization is the possibility to choose an accent color that will be consistent throughout the app.
A minor drawback is represented by the occasional prompts to rate Music Player+ that appear at startup after using the application a couple of times.
Playlist creation and basic playback options
The utility enables you to quickly put together a list with your favorite songs and have it available from the dedicated area, alongside others that you will create in due time.
The only things you have to do is assign a name to the playlist and then pick the audio files that will be added. Unfortunately, it is not possible to make modifications to the list order after it was generated, you can only add or remove items and change the name of the playlist if needed.
Insofar as the controls are concerned, Music Player+ only has play/pause, forward and back functions, so repeat or shuffle commands are not yet available.
Album art, quick search and seamless operation
The application is ready to play the most commonly encountered audio formats, while also providing support for album cover, where images are available.
The built-in search engine will make it possible for you to easily find any song stored locally in your library. Also, in case you want to leave the music playing in the background, you will be glad to know that Music Player+ works under the lock screen as well.
