Media Lock 1.2.0.0

Restrict the access to the digital pictures and videos you capture with a specialized tool
The concern for keeping personal data and any file stored onto a mobile device private is widespread among users worldwide, so for all mobile platforms some dedicated apps have been developed to provide the extra security layer sought after by many.

Those who want to create such a safe area onto their Windows Phones have several choices at their disposal and one of the apps tailored specifically for such purposes is Media Lock.

Less appealing and more practical look

The interface that greets you once you install the app onto your handset is quite dull and unadorned. The controls are all easy to access from all the modules of the utility, so the operation is made easier.

Going through the stored items and visiting the few sections of the utility are done smoothly and without any noticeable delays or other sort of similar flaws.

However, there is a visible annoyance inside Media Lock and it is represented by the presence of some banners that seem stuck to the lower side of the screen.

Capture content on the go

Among the few features of this app are listed the ability to record clips or take snapshots using the phone's built-in camera, but note that only 2 pics or videos can be captured in the trial version.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the video capture, the news are not too great because the app fails to display the live view and to record anything, at least on some devices, so you will be stuck with a black screen and no recordings.

Insofar as the photos are concerned, Media Lock manages to do a lot better and you will be able to take pictures with both front-facing and rear cameras. More so, there are some adjustments at your disposal, so you can configure some parameters after all,

The flash activation button and the resolution selector are included in the main menu hosted in the right side of the screen as the device is held in landscape mode, the only orientation supported by the GUI while capturing images.

Upload saved files to your cloud storage

The application manages to offer an upload function that you can use to send all the captures to OneDrive as soon as you log into your account and give permission to Media Lock to access and modify the online storage.

The procedure is pretty simple, but it may take a while to handle large files and the speed also depends on the Internet connection, so your patience may be put to the test a bit.

Bottom Line
Design / UI4

The poorly designed front-end has very few if any elements in its favor and the ever-present adverts make it lose points as well.

Function3

The feature set is crippled by the faulty behavior of the video capture module, while the trial limitation further restricts the usage.

Security10

The system areas that this application needs to access are all related to its functionality, so it is safe to install and use it.

Battery4

There is a noticeable stress on the battery while Media Lock is running, as it takes up a lot of power to function well.

Price4

This utility doesn't bring too much value for those who try it and there are other more efficient and fully working solutions that do not require a purchase.

Compatibility10

Most Windows Phone users will be able to have this app up and running onto their devices as long as there are powered by version 7.5 or higher of the OS.
