Windows Phone users owners at their disposal a neat little utility that goes by the name of Lockscreen Spycam that tries to run in an inconspicuous manner so that its users can capture some photos unbeknownst to other people around them.
Cool looking backgrounds and graphics
The appearance of this application is pretty well made, as it features some attractive visuals, especially when considering the lock screen wallpapers at your disposal.
The clean aspect is spoiled by the permanent presence of some ad banners in the upper side of the screen and this is not the only letdown. There are some full screen ads that appear when moving from one section of the app into another and, after a launch or two, some prompts to rate and review the app will pop up.
Clever cover for functions and actions
Lockscreen Spycam imitates very well a locked screen and has its main commands in plain sight, but they are well disguised so no one will suspect anything when looking at your phone's screen. The practical aspect is enhanced by the fact that the date and time shown on the lock screen are accurate and updated in real time.
The small e-mail icon is in fact the switch that toggles the front at and rear camera modes. By default the back camera is used and if you choose to use the front facing lenses and tap the button, it will turn into a Facebook icon.
To trigger the capture you only have to press the digital clock and a photo will be taken instantly. Note that while the image is processed the time will disappear from view.
Simple settings and noticeable disadvantages
To modify the current background image you have to enter the "Settings" menu of Lockscreen Spycam and this can be done by tapping the small clock icon on the main screen. An important mention is that the camera shutter sound cannot be disabled by the app, so you will have to do this manually, from your phone settings area.
Even if the concept seems quite fun and enticing, there is a major flaw that will expose all users who haven't bought the ad-free version. The adverts that appear at the top of the screen are always shown, which doesn't happen with the real lock screen, not to forget the erratic full screen ads that might appear suddenly and blow your cover.
