Inside Information 1.2.0.0
For those who are looking for one such app, Inside Information might be a viable alternative, as it is very easy to work with and provides some really useful data in virtually no time.
Simple looks, focused on functionality
This application is meant to provide facts and figures and is less if at all preoccupied with the visual aspect, so the GUI is pretty much dreary and completely lacking any appeal.
Going through among the various sections of the utility has a smooth feel to it and there are no lags or other similar glitches. The information is well structured and presented in a clean and easy to understand manner.
For certain entries the complete data is split into two rows in portrait orientation, but when switching to the landscape mode everything will fit the screen properly.
Some prompts to rate and review Inside Information appear after one or two launches, but they can be deactivated and dismissed with a single tap. More bothersome are the adverts that are shown at the bottom of the screen as flashing banners.
Detailed system information at a glance
Inside Information doesn't need you to run any scans, as it is able to acquire all the system data on its own. The hardware, memory or network information each have their separate modules, where you can view the details.
Sensor and camera support, as well as the regional settings can also be checked out on the spot, as each of them has a separate module where the respective details are on display.
On the downside, several parameters are not taken into consideration, so the storage info is missing and there is no processor related data anywhere in sight.
Some details regarding the battery status and the memory usage are included in the general device information section, but this does little to compensate for the missing data.
A positive aspect related to Inside Information is that, unlike some similar tools, it manages to detect correctly the screen resolution and offers accurate details about the other software and hardware components.
Another welcomed addition is the "Media" module where you can see how many songs, artists, playlists, photo albums and pictures are stored onto your mobile device.

Bottom Line
Design / UI3
The app has a disappointing look overall, so it loses a lot because of the monotonous front-end plagued by ads and prompts. |
Function4
The utility provides an insufficient amount of information about the handheld device and lacks many of the features found in most similar tools. |
Security10
Even if Inside Information looks into almost every corner of the system, this is to be expected from an app with its profile. |
Battery5
The high power consumption of this application will drain the battery fast, especially when using it for longer periods of time. |
Price9
The feature set is offered freely, but users have to put up with some advertisement banners and numerous prompts. |
Compatibility10
Made to function on almost every Windows Phone handset on the market, Inside Information only needs version 7.5 of the OS to be installed on the target device. |
