HousePlants is one such utility and it is addressed to Windows Phone users who will have the possibility to learn a lot of interesting facts about the flowers in their home and about nursing them.
Uncouth GUI, focused on practicality
The looks of this application are not too appealing, despite the beautiful photos that are illustrative for the plants included in the database. The feel of the utility is rather cumbersome, as the navigation is less smooth than you would expect it to be.
The information is pretty well structured for each flower you discover through the search engine, but there are some very large delays in loading a selected module of the app, while the "Back" button on your phone will be of no use other than to close the application as soon as it is pressed.
Find the plants you want to learn more about and get some extra info on the side
With HousePlants you will be able to look for any flower you are interested in using the built-in search facility. Thus, you can customize the query parameters by specifying the Latin or common name of the plant and choosing the category it belongs to (foliage, flowering or succulents) to narrow down the search as much as possible.
A neat addition to the feature set is the notification functionality that can be used for the flowers you added to the favorites section, called "My Plants". Also, there is another module where you can learn a lot about the preparation of the soil, watering and feeding instructions, as well as the repoting procedure and about the pests that may plague your house garden.
