When playing board, card or similar types of games with friends its usually someone's job to keep the score and since the days of pen and paper seem long gone, trying out some modern methods could be an interesting thought.

Windows Phone users have at their disposal a utility called Game Score that provides an efficient way of tracking scores per rounds for as many players as needed.

Uncomplicated GUI with a plain design

The utility is evidently focusing on ease of use and has a practical sense a lot better developed than its artistic side. Thus, the visual aspect may not be as appealing as some would expect it, but it will surely help you get the job done.

The functions are well arranged inside the interface and going through the various sections of the app has a nice and fluent feel to it. The most visible letdown is the presence of the ad banners that are constantly flashing at the bottom of the screen.

Fast player setup and effortless data entry

With Game Score you can start by adding all the players who participate in the game and once this is done, you can move on to the area where the actual scores are shown. The large tiles that each display the number of points and the name of the player are arranged on two columns and if you have more than 4 participants, you will have to scroll a bit to view their stats and modify the numbers.

To update the scores you just have to tap on each tile and input in the corresponding field the necessary value. Alternatively, you can use the handy buttons with preset values provided by default and add or subtract with a single tap 1, 5, 10 or 100 points.

To review the scores from the beginning of the game and see how much points each player has gained or lost per round you can head on to the "History" section where this data is made available.
