Fuel Tracker 3.0.0.0
One of the tools tailored specifically for Windows Phone users and which is able to store a variety of data about fuel, gas prices and more is the suggestively named Fuel Tracker.
Simple interface with a well structured layout
The utility offers a fairly friendly front-end for adding the information you want to track and the discreet background of the app brings a nice touch to an otherwise common GUI.
The data is presented in a clear and easy to read manner in both sections of the app that are dedicated to keeping the stats at hand.
Not so pleasant to look at are the large advertisements that appear everywhere and sometimes in full screen. More so, there are some occasional prompts to rate and review the app that pop-up when Fuel Tracker starts.
Record fill-ups and car mileage
This application allows you to keep tabs on the mileage of your car and you can also have a detailed overview of the different gas prices for every fill-up. Unfortunately, if you want to use this app for more than one car, you're fresh out of luck because Fuel Tracker can only look after a single vehicle.
For each new entry you can specify the current odometer reading, the amount of gas (expressed in liters or gallons) and the price per unit. The average mileage will be calculated automatically and shown inside the main screen, alongside the details of the latest fill-up you added.
Extra caution is needed when adding the car data and each entry in the database because once you hit that "Save" button there's no going back, as the app doesn't allow editing existing records. Also, should you want to include older readings, this is not possible either.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The appearance of this utility is quite decent, even if it doesn't have any special graphics that would stand out. Unfortunately, the overwhelming adverts and annoying prompts will ruin much of the experience. |
Function5
The amount of data that can be recorder by this app is not sufficient, especially considering it can only track the stats for one car. The fill-up history is a welcomed feature, but more options and functions are needed for this app to become competitive. |
Security6
Quite intrusive by nature, this utility needs to look into many sensitive system areas unrelated to its functionality. |
Battery2
Perhaps because of the never-ending stream of ads or for some other reason Fuel Tracker has an incredibly high power consumption for such a simple app and drains the battery of energy pretty fast. |
Price6
Becase of the numerous shortcomings it has, this tool doesn't seem to be ready for prime-time just yet, so its value is not too great at this time. |
Compatibility9
A positive aspect about this app is the fact that it was built to run on most Windows Phone devices out there, starting from those powered by version 7.5 of the OS. |
