Encrypt With Friends 1.0.0.2

Exchange emails with your contacts without worrying that someone could read the correspondence
Protecting the communication between you and your friends may be something you are already thinking of implementing insofar as the content sent via online services is concerned.

Should you wish to make this happen onto your Windows Phone as well, there is a perfect app for the job, called Encrypt With Friends. It focuses on sending messages via email and makes sure they go out only as ciphered bits.

Friendly and easy to use interface

This utility comes with a clean look and some decent graphics that make it pretty nice to be working with. Everything is kept ordered inside all the areas of the app, so both content and commands are easy to read and reach.

The navigation is seamless no matter the section of the application you want to go to and the decoded messages appear promptly inside the conversation screen allocated for each contact. On the downside, just as on cue are the advertisement banners that are shown towards the lower end of the main screen.

Add friends and send encrypted messages on the fly

You can easily include to the main list all the contacts stored on your phone that have an email address included in the details. The only subsequent problem and a quite important one is that you will not be able to remove any of the friends once they are added.

To send out your messages and receive those of your peers you have at your disposal two buttons and each opens up a separate box where you can write or paste the content arrived in your mailbox.

Quick profile customization for secure communication

For each contact you save in the friends' list you can modify the display name, the passphrase and passphrase hint. These two last entries are of the utmost importance because the other person needs to provide the appropriate password you assigned to them in order to be able to decipher your emails.

The hint should be chosen in such a manner that only the recipient can guess the correct passphrase in case you do not have any other means of letting them know the passkey before starting to use Encrypt With Friends.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8

The application has a simple yet pleasant appearance, with a tidy and neatly organized layout. The only notable letdown is the presence of the ad banners

Function8

Very easy to work with, the utility offers a good set of features for enabling fast and secure communication. The fact that contacts can only be added and not removed is a major drawback.

Security9

Fairly safe to use, this app looks mostly in sensitive areas of the system that are related to its functions.

Battery7

There is a noticeable power consumption when Encrypt With Friends is running, so the battery usage remains at high levels for most of the time.

Price8

With a bit of improvements here and there this application could challenge the top spots in its category, but for now it remains a good solution.

Compatibility9

Most Windows Phone handsets can have this app installed and running with no issues as long as the operating system is at least version 7.5.
