Easy Compass 2.0.0.0
If you find the physical compass too heavy an accessory or for any other reasons you choose not to take one with you, there are some virtual helpers you can use and Easy Compass for Windows Phone is one you can try out.
Polished and easy to use front-end
The looks of this application are quite appealing, mainly thanks to the nicely designed graphics that give it a professional look.
The responsive display adjusts its position with every movement and the sensitivity of the indicator is rather high and the precision it offers matches that sensitivity, thanks to the neat gradations from the rotating bezel.
There is a noticeable drawback from the visual perspective and it is represented by the presence of the flashing ad banners at the bottom of the screen. Also, after a couple of uses, you will receive some prompts to rate on each startup.
Calibrate the compass and lock it in place
This utility relies on you to manually carry out the calibration procedure for obtaining the best results. All the necessary instructions on how to do this are outlined in the calibration screen.
Should you care to get a firm fix on a certain position, once you established the way, simply use the "Lock" button to stop the compass needle and make it hold that direction.
To help you view the details about the current coordinates, Easy Compass shows the degrees inside a dedicated field in the upper side of the screen, so you will know exactly in which direction you are going and with which deviation from North.
The gradations on the bezel and the other markings that are shown inside the main screen are very easy to read and can help you establish the direction towards which you are going and, as long as you remember the value corresponding to the right way, you should always be able to reach your destination without any issues.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The nice interface, with its smooth and responsive display makes an excellent impression, but this is only until the adverts start to appear. |
Function8
The app offers a simple calibration procedure and accurate readings, so it scores pretty well from the functional perspective. |
Security9
Easy Compass is pretty safe to use, as it only needs to access the phone identity area for some reasons that are not related to the actual functionality. |
Battery2
The stress on the battery is extremely high and the application uses up a lot of power when running in the background as well. |
Price9
Apart from the annoying animated ads it has inside, this utility performs very well and can be a reliable tool for any user. |
Compatibility9
Meant to be used on the more recent handsets, this app will need Windows Phone 8 and above to be installed onto the target device. |
