Content Shield 1.0.0.0

Keep passwords, notes and other details safe with a simple app for your Windows Phone
Preserving the privacy of personal information is a notable concern in the modern era and many people resort to specialized helpers that can secure the access to their devices, especially on those where sensitive data is stored.

In case you are looking for a convenient tool that can help you safeguard logins, various access codes or simple texts, Content Shield is one of the possible alternatives for use on the go.

Straightforward GUI, with decent graphics

The application comes with a simple interface and a well organized layout that facilitates the seamless navigation among the various sections of the utility.

The live tiles shown inside the main screen are pretty neat as they offer a quick insight in each category, while also providing some useful information like the number of items in the shopping basket or the date and time when the passwords were last accessed.

The advertisements that follow you in every corner of the app are quite annoying, as the flashing banners are constantly changing in the lower part of the screen.

Simple data input with preset forms and custom fields

Content Shield enables you to easily create new entries in any of the 4 main modules, but, unfortunately, you will not be able to create new categories or folders.

When adding the passwords and to-do entries you have various categories at your disposal, to make it easier to identify the items from the main lists. Nonetheless, you also have the possibility to include custom fields in every password subcategory and also assign tasks to custom categories created on the spot.

In case you have some really funny jokes you want to remember, there is a special area for them inside this app and all you have to do is write the humorous text and then save it with one tap. Insofar as the shopping section of Content Shield is concerned, you have the possibility to choose from a series of preset items, but it is also very easy to add new things to your lists.

Password protection for content and app settings

A neat feature of this application is the ability to secure the access to each section with the password you create in the dedicated area.

On the downside, it is not possible to use different passcodes for each module and the password hint that you set up with the access key will appear every time you are prompted to input the password.

Also, if you switch to another utility and then open Content Shield from the list of recently used apps, you will no longer be asked to provide the passkey and the content from the module you left open is accessible immediately.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6

The application has a relatively clean look, with a neat addition represented by the animated tiles, but also plagued by lost of adverts.

Function6

This utility provides only basic security and it lacks customization possibilities for adding new categories, as well as management features for the items it stores.

Security8

Content Shield needs, for some reason, to look inside a couple of system areas that are not related to its functionality.

Battery3

This app has a very high battery consumption, so the power will drain from the handset at an accelerated pace on prolonged use.

Price9

Since all the features provided by the application are free to use, it has a very good value, the only exception being the presence of the ads.

Compatibility10

Made to work on most Windows Phone handsets out there, Content Shield only requires version 7.5 or higher of the operating system.
