ColorSplash FX 1.0.0.0
There are plenty of image editing solutions out there, but there are also some neat apps that allow you to choose the enhancements before taking the snapshot.
ColorSplash FX is one such tool and that it will enable you to use the filters as you capture the fresh photo, so no extra post-processing will be required.
Simple front-end, made for practical use
This simple application offers a live preview from the handset's on-board camera, so as soon as you open it, you will be able to start taking photos with the desired effect applied. The live view is very responsive, without lags or glitches of any sort.
The controls are all at hand inside the main menu and the preview area is pretty generous, but, unfortunately, the app doesn't adapt to portrait orientation, so you will have to be content with the landscape mode.
There is a minor annoyance that starts to appear when opening the utility for a second time, as you will receive on each launch a prompt that asks you to rate and review ColorSplash FX.
Choose the filter and capture snapshots on the spot
The application will make it possible for you to take photos with one of the 4 available effects applied. Thus, you can pick the one you want from the main menu that is hosted in the right side of the screen by pressing the corresponding arrows to change the filters.
These effects correspond to the red, blue, green and yellow colors and they emulate a camera flash colored in one of those hues. The whole scene is illuminated accordingly when you tap the screen to make a capture.
After the image is acquired, ColorSplash FX takes care on its own of the processing and saving operations, so you will have the snapshots readily available inside the "Camera Roll" folder on your Windows Phone.
An important remark you should note is that the utility is only able to use the main (rear) camera to acquire images, so you will not be able to make any selfies or other captures with the front-facing camera of your handset.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The app comes with a decent look, lacking visually appealing graphics, unable to adjust to portrait orientation and displaying some prompts. |
Function6
The 4 filters that ColorSplash FX comes with are very well made and the processing is pretty quick, but there are no options to control the camera functions. |
Security10
Perfectly safe to install and use, this application doesn't go anywhere near the sensitive areas of the system. |
Battery2
The massive power consumption will deplete the battery after a relatively short while when the utility is used continuously. |
Price10
For anyone who wants to capture photos with some neat colored flash effects, this is the app to go for, as it is completely free, with only a few nagging prompts. |
Compatibility9
Ready to run on the more modern devices, this utility requires at least Windows Phone 8 to be installed onto the handset. |
