BluSmartbox 2.4.1512.2
For those who are trying out several apps that offer password-based protection and encryption on the go, BluSmartbox is worth a try, mainly because it provides great ease of use for all Windows Phone users.
Tidy yet less appealing interface
The application is designed to provide a very good protection layer and focuses mostly on practical use at the expense of the visual appeal. The simple front-end barely has some elements of graphical design that are more fair to look upon.
The main commands are neatly placed in the menu that is hosted at the bottom of the screen, so you can access them with a single tap at all times. Also, browsing through categories and stored logins is done without any glitches.
Store all sorts of passwords on the fly
Adding the personal information you want to keep inside BluSmartbox is easy to carry out and you can store website login data, network, email or operating system credentials.
There is a built-in password generation feature for newly added entries that you can use for creating complex passcodes that may contain lowercase, uppercase, numbers and special characters.
Once you select the type of credentials (basic, medium or complex), a code that matches the options set up in the configuration area will be generated. Besides assigning the various entries to various companies, you can add new items on this list of companies also.
A noticeable drawback you might encounter is the difficulty with which the app creates certain types of custom password entries and often you will be better off generating a basic entry then customize it after it is saved.
Quick configuration and double security
The access permission are limited to those who know the master password and BluSmartbox has an extra protective measure that will come into effect after the passcode has been entered erroneously 3 times.
This PIN code will enable you to try logging in with the master pass again, but if someone tries to guess that passphrase and doesn't have this code, their attempts will be cut short really soon.
The length of the passwords created by the built-in generator can be modified via the "Policies" module of the "Options" area, so you can choose the maximum number of characters for the basic, medium and complex passcodes.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
From the visual perspective this utility seems well designed, despite the fact that is looks a bit simple and doesn't have any GUI customization options. |
Function7
There are a few neat features inside this package, but it lacks export abilities and sometimes it cannot create new entries with custom options. |
Security5
Even if it is supposed to ensure data protection, BluSmartbox looks to access several sensitive areas of the system unrelated to its functionality. |
Battery4
When used intensively, the battery consumption reaches very high levels because the app requires a lot of power. |
Price9
All the functions can be used freely and free of costs, even if it claims to have ads inside and their removal needs a payment. |
Compatibility10
Users who are wiling to try this application will have to do it on a Windows Phone 7.5 or above handset. |
