For Windows Phone users there are several tools that aim to provide a means of storing inside a virtual vault various types of files and documents and AceLock is one of them.
Uncomplicated looks, made for ease of use
The application brings you a simple interface, with large tiles for accessing the various sections, but, unfortunately, some of the information presented on a few tiles or in certain sections of the app cannot be read because of the large dimensions of the fonts used.
Navigating among the items included in the several categories listed in AceLock has a fluent feel to it, but there are some occasional delays when carrying out some basic operations.
Also, when viewing the images in the slideshow mode, the pictures appear zoomed in and only a portion of each photo is visible on screen.
Create personal folders and add items on the go
With this utility you can make special containers inside each of the 4 main categories it comes with, but, when choosing the folder name you should note that only a dozen characters will be displayed in the main lists for images, videos, audio recordings and notes.
Importing files is possible only for images, due to the limitations of the OS, but AceLock is equipped to help you capture snapshots, video clips or sound and these files will be included automatically inside the protected storage.
In the "Notes" area you will be able to include quick memos or any text you want to safeguard. The application doesn't have any particular editing options here, so you can tap and write then save the notes.
Multiple security measures
AceLock relies on an access code you create when opening the app for the first time and it can be up to 5 digits in length. Later on you can change this passkey from the "Settings" section where you will also find a most useful feature that enables you to activate a false PIN.
This is pretty neat because if you ever find yourself in a situation where someone forces you to log into the app, nothing of the real content will be available upon inserting the decoy key.
A password recovery option is also included in the package and you can configure the app's automatic lock screen that protects it if you leave it open for more than specified interval, which can range between 30 seconds and 5 minutes.
