For owners of Windows Phone handsets an application called 500 Backgrounds awaits to be discovered and make its users happy by offering a wide variety of pictures to display on the lock screen.
Pleasant look for going through countless pictures
The app comes with a simple interface, that accommodates two main categories of photos, the most popular wallpapers and the editor's choices. There is no standard way in which the pictures are ordered, so you will end-up swiping a little bit to the left and some more to the right to discover all the images.
The navigation between the pics is pretty smooth, without any visible glitches. There is a little annoyance that will appear after a few uses, namely a prompt for rating, but it can be permanently disabled and dismissed with two taps.
Automatic wallpaper renewal and image downloading
The backgrounds are delivered randomly to your device and you have the possibility to set the interval for having the lock screen wallpaper modified, by opting for 3, 6 or 12 hours and alternately for one, two or 5 days.
Besides setting the selected photos as backgrounds, you can also save them onto your phone with a singe tap on the dedicated button. There is a so-called "Family Filter" that is supposed to skip pictures with potentially inappropriate content, but since it is in the "Beta" stage of its development it misses the target a lot.

The app has a nice look mainly thanks to the content it displays, otherwise the less organized layout would not be in its favor. The seamless navigation through the pics is also an advantage and raises the ratings a bit for this app. |
