Tinder 4.3
The notion of online dating is far from being new, but it’s Tinder that has kind of brought the idea into the spotlight in recent years. Launched back in the summer of 2012, the mobile app makes meeting new people a bit easier.
Easy as pie
The app itself is pretty easy to figure out and doesn’t require a lot of technical skills. In fact, it’s so easy to use that a 5 year old could probably do it, although that’s obviously not indicated.
As you launch Tinder you’ll notice the one thing that has probably annoyed me most, which is the fact that you need to tie your account to your Facebook profile. While this may ensure that the people using the app are in fact, of age, it’s quite annoying that you have to give a dating app access to your private Facebook information and photos.
Moving past this, the app lets you immediately dive into being as shallow as you want to be by judging people solely for the way they look by providing you with their pictures and having to throw them into one pile or the other. And by pile I mean left and right – left for the rejects and right for the ones you think are cute. If you want more info about these individuals, you can just tap the “i” button and check out their profile and any additional photos they may have.
When someone that you threw into the pile on the right likes you back you can kick off a conversation. There’s also the option to ignore this match and “keep playing” and to tell your friends about this via text message, email, Twitter, Facebook and so on.
Chat people up
You can view all the individuals you were matched with and the conversations you had with them, if any.
The app allows you to choose whether your profile should be visible in the “Discover” tab or not. Also, you can adjust a couple of sliders, choosing just how far away from you the people you look at can be, as well as how old (and young) they should be. It’s also possible to have the app only display men, women or to have them both, depending on your personal preferences.
All in all, this is an app that’s very easy to use. So, if you’re into the kind of service Tinder offers, then this is a really good way to do things.
