Camera All In One v1.2
Looks ancient
Camera All In One is not optimized for 4-inch displays, or Retina resolutions, but since it only requires iOS 3.1 and it looks the way it does, something tells us developer jun shen wants to keep it that way.
Whether he’s bored of updating it, or simply wants to do a public service, we won’t tax the looks too much. We know how it feels to discover new software that still works with your extinct hardware.
Sub par experience
Unless we test this one on the absolute oldest iPhone out there, we can’t be sure how it behaves on all configurations. On two of our test devices - one running iOS 4, the other iOS 7 - Camera All In One worked well but sometimes crashed. Also it made the devices hot and drained a lot of power. But that’s what you get with software that hasn’t been updated for four years.
Bugs aside, the app is really usable for quick snaps. You get a ton of options that you can tweak, including zoom, flash, HD/SD, and some effects. You don’t get an actual preview of the effect, but it gets applied as soon as you hit the shutter.
The placement of some buttons is a bit strange, but you can get them out of the way with a little patience and spirit of adventure scrolling through the one-way menubar at the bottom. Camera All In One even has a comprehensive built-in guide.
Good for iOS3 users
It’s got a decent set of features, but many of them don’t really work very well. You have to struggle to get some quality imagery out of this app, and the effects are very poor (compared to today’s solutions). But still, if you can’t find anything that supports your iOS 3 device, this is what you need.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
jun shen’s Camera All In One looks ancient, but it probably needs to stay that way if it’s only going to serve iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G users. All eight of them |
Function6
It’s got a decent set of features, but many of them don’t really work very well |
Security10
Nothing to worry about here. Doesn’t even have sharing functions |
Battery3
Awful. Device gets really hot and battery life is a huge concern if you’re going to use this app on a regular basis |
Price10
Nothing to complain about in this department. No ads, no in-app purchases. jun shen is a really generous dev |
Compatibility4
As thoughtful (or lazy) as jun shen may be, an iOS 3 app is what it is these days |
A poor man’s camera app, but one that you can respect
