The promotional offer may be available until the end of 2011

It looks like Sony Ericsson is trying to attract more customers with promises of Ice Cream Sandwich and free cloud storage.

The latest offer coming from Sony Ericsson is aimed at Xperia smartphones owners who are offered 50GB of free cloud storage on Box.net, for life.

Those who want to take advantage of the offer will have to download the Box.net application from Android Market, create an account and log in using their Xperia handsets.

According to the folks over at PhoneArena, the promotional offer is available until December 31, 2011 or 2012. Even though Sony Ericsson’s blog mentions that latter date, it’s probably a mistake.

However, it appears that Sony Ericsson pulled the announcement from its official blog, which means that it will either be revised or removed completely.

UPDATE: It looks like the offer was indeed mistakenly published on Sony Ericsson official blog, as the company has just issued a statement that clarifies terms of the promo, which, by the way, is not ready to roll yet.

Read below Sony Ericsson official statment:

"On Monday afternoon, we mistakenly posted a promo offering Xperia owners 50GB of free storage via the Box for Android mobile app. While we’re really excited about working with Box down the road, this offer is not active today. We are in the midst of finalising the details of this promotion and are working to provide this offer very soon to all Xperia customers so stay tuned!"
