HTC has recently announced it will bring Android 5.0 Lollipop update on some of its smartphones in no more than three months starting last week.

The first to receive the upgrade would be the HTC One M8, followed by One M8, One Mini and One Mini 2. Additional smartphones may be included on the list of eligible devices to get the Lollipop update, but these will be the first to get it.

Well, unless you own a Google Play Edition device made by HTC, in which case you will be able to download Android 5.0 Lollipop much earlier.

According to HTC’s VP of Product Management, Mohammed Versi, his company plans on releasing Android 5.0 Lollipop for HTC One M7 and One M8 Google Play Edition smartphones early next week.

The announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise especially that Google and Motorola have already kicked off the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop for Nexus 5, as well as well Moto G (2014) and Moto X (2014).

Additionally, LG confirmed recently that the G3 owners should also start receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update beginning this week. Even though the upgrade will only be available in Poland, the rollout should go worldwide in the following weeks.

So there you have it, HTC One M7 and One M8 GPE owners, you will be among the first to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop on your phones. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
