Twilight
Sleek interface with plenty of features at hand
The app doesn't come with a tutorial or a presentation of its features, which is quite inconvenient since new users can't get an overview of what the app can do. It doesn't have any onscreen tips but there's a whole section with instructions that you can check out before launching the app.
It doesn't come with online registration and you don't have to complete a setup in order to use it. The whole concept behind this app is quite interesting. Research suggests that if you expose your eyes to blue light from phones and tablets before you get to bed, you might have trouble falling asleep.
Fall asleep easily
The Twilight app makes your device screen adapt to the time of the day. It filters the blue spectrum in your phone or tablet after sunset and protects your eyes with a soft and pleasant red filter.
The filter intensity is smoothly adjusted to the sun cycle based on your local sunset and sunrise times. You can adjust the color temperature and intensity. There's the option of adjusting the screen dim and checking out a preview before you actually enable the app. In addition, it comes with multiple filters like sun, alarm or a custom one that you can adjust.
More features and tools
The app requires users to turn on their location services, but if you're somewhere inside it might not be able to detect your location on a map. It has controls in the status bar, you can pause the app and remove the filter.
The side menu gives you access to all sort of controls and tools inside the app. You can have the app automatically control backlight, auto-pause in specified apps and enable the smartlight feature.
The app isn't fully free, it comes with a set of pro features that you can unlock if you pay 8.89$, which is a bit steep. The app has trouble working in certain applications, it may crash or cause apps to not work properly.
