Dog Whistler 2.2.0
One of such apps is Dog Whistler, it could prove to be helpful when trying to train your dog or simply to catch its attention. It comes with lots of frequencies that you can adjust, but don't expect the app to do miracles as it won't work on all dogs.
Simplistic and annoying UI that needs explanations
The app doesn't launch with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, which is quite inconvenient since the interface isn't easy-to-use and you might need some tips on how it works.
The UI doesn't have material design or a side menu with settings, but it does provide users with access to all sort of features from the home screen. An overflow icon on the top right corner of the screen provides users with some more options and a help menu for getting some tips. It's best if you check them out as the app's layout won't be of any assistance.
Use all sort of whistles
You have the option to change the whistle frequency from the home screen. The lowest frequency is of 80 Hz while the highest reaches 21920 Hz, the human ear isn't able to hear these two frequencies. It comes with four shortcuts to frequencies, so that you can change them faster.
The app lets you choose between three modes, manual, continuous or timer. The manual mode is activated by simply keeping your finger pressed on the whistle on the screen. The second mode only stops when you tap on the whistle, while the timer lets you set a duration for the sound.
Some more tools
Volume is adjusted using phone controls, but it would have been nicer if it had a separate icon for that. There's the option to choose from multiple types of sound, like long or short beeps, frequency oscillation and static.
But other than that, it doesn't come with any other additional tools that you might use. All in all, it's a nice app for using whistles, but don't expect it to do much. We've tested it on dogs and they don't seem to have any reaction to low or high frequency sounds.
Some dogs might get annoyed with the whistle sound, especially if the volume is high. This might make the app a great tool for training your dog, but it might also annoy it too much.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The interface isn't that intuitive, users should check out the help menu with instructions and tips on modes. |
Function4
The app will annoy your dog at best, so don't expect it to make miracles and it could use a volume control icon and some more features. |
Security8
It doesn't need many permissions from your phone, so it shouldn't pose any privacy issues. |
Battery5
Consumption seems to be a bit high, so keep an eye on resources when using this app. |
Price7
It comes with some banner and popup ads, if you want to check out the bonus pack you'll need to pay 1.29$. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 3.0 or later, making the app available to many users. |
It doesn't really work on all dogs but it's well worth a try.
