One of such applications is Vintage Retro Camera. Retro filters and effects are popular, but Vintage Retro Camera takes it to a whole new level. It's really like recording with an old camera, the image is gray perfectly resembling cameras from the 50s and 60s.
Dated UI with plenty of features at hand
The app doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, it simply launches with the camera mode. It's quite inconvenient that it doesn't show any tips especially since the UI is a bit slow which might get annoying.
It doesn't use material design, but the app has a settings menu which means that you can make some changes to the functionality of Vintage Retro Camera. The UI seems a bit dated, it could use an upgrade to make it easier for users to navigate and access features.
Snap pictures with retro effects
Vintage Retro Camera is only available in landscape mode, if you tilt your screen to portrait the icons won't adjust to the change. It lets you apply filters directly from the camera mode, choose effects from the 30s or 50s.
It comes with many filters, like Polaroid, 8mm, vintage, black&white, sepia and even mirror. It's a bit strange that it would have mirror effect, especially since the camera delivers a dark image and mirror effect is quite new. Still, it's quite nice for taking dark but vintage pictures, although picture details are difficult to distinguish.
More features
You can even record videos with this app, although it takes a while to process clips and save them on your device. It comes with a section that delivers one unique filter per day, you can check it out and use it for free but only for a limited period of time.
You can switch between cameras on your device or import pictures from your gallery and apply filters. It doesn't really have any settings, only the option to adjust notifications and shop for other filters and effects to apply on your pictures. The app comes with a watermark you can only remove it if you pay 1.39$ or purchase the premium version with all unlocked features for 4.89$.
