Square InstaPic
Square InstaPic is a nice app that helps you do just that, it doesn't make you crop images and comes with plenty of editing tools that you can choose from.
Sleek and intuitive design
Many photography apps sport similar designs, with a home screen that provides access to their gallery of pictures, camera or other sections inside the app. Square InstaPic has the same layout but also comes with a settings menu, letting you make some changes to the UI and the app.
It doesn't have a tutorial, but doesn't require online registration either. You can have the app save images as png or jpg, or have it resize pictures when they're exported. The app connects with Instagram, so when you're done editing you can share pictures instantly.
Edit pictures using all the tools provided inside the app
Simply pick a picture from your gallery or snap one to edit. You can select from five background colors displayed on the screen or use the palette to find more. There's also the option of rotating images or applying one of the many filters provided inside the app.
The app lets you adjust the intensity of filters, but don't expect them to be that spectacular. Frankly we've seen better in many other apps. Still, you can make basic changes to images, like adjust contrast, brightness, saturation and exposure.
Other than that, the app also lets you crop images to various sizes that you'd like. A whole collection of background patterns are also available and the app lets you adjust their intensity and transparency.
Create collages using various pictures
Square InstaPic lets you pick up to 6 pictures from your gallery to add to a collage. There are many templates to pick from, but not as many as we've seen in other applications. Still, it lets you swap locations for pictures or change the color of grids.
You can resize borders or apply a nice pattern in the background. Still, filters aren't available for collages and there aren't that many editing tools for them. When you're done editing, you can save pictures as jpeg or png, and adjust their quality.
The resolution of the output image is a bit lower than that of the original one, but all in all this app is pretty simplistic but definitely worth a try.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface follows the general guidelines of many photography apps, with the same dull layout that doesn't leave users confused. |
Function9
It works just fine, but it could really use some more filters, visual effects and templates for collages, together with some stickers and option to add text. |
Security9
It shouldn't pose any privacy issues as it only needs a few permissions from your phone and no online registration. |
Battery4
Consumption is quite high for a photography app, keep an eye on resources when editing pictures. |
Price9
It's free of charge, but comes with banner ads and there's no option of removing them. |
Compatibility7
The developer didn't mention Android versions compatible with this app. |
It's a nice app but quite simplistic.
