Slingshot 2.1
While they're all complementary to the main app they're still useful or fun even if you're not an avid Facebook user. Slingshot is one of such apps, that has a nice concept behind it but needs a bit more work.
Interesting concept behind the app but the execution is poor
The whole idea behind Slingshot is to create an account on the platform using your Facebook profile and share content with the people you're following. Users can snap pictures, make some minor changes and then sling them to other users.
You can also record videos and share them online. The app won't post on your Facebook account, so you shouldn't worry about friends from Facebook seeing content that you've shared on Slingshot.
Images and videos aren't stored on your account, they're only visible for 24 hours unless followers sling them from their screen. Still, the app doesn't let you sling pictures to certain users.
Snap pictures or record videos and share them with friends
Slingshot's camera mode doesn't have many options, you can only switch between cameras or enable flash. Editing tools include the option of applying various filters, adding text or emojis to the picture.
Tap and hold on text to move it across the screen and simply swipe for applying filters. Developers should include some onscreen instructions aside from the help section in settings, as it's easier to learn how to use the app by reading tips on the screen than by checking out the user manual. When you're satisfied with the end result, you can tap on sling to share the image or short video.
View reactions and follow users
The app has some issues, especially in the video editor. It doesn't show users how long the video is or doesn't clearly say if the device is recording. In addition, users must hold their finger on the screen until the video ends which is quite inconvenient. You can also explore and view pictures from people all over the world.
Still, after you've shared pictures you can see the reactions of other people but only until the picture expires in 24 hours. Moreover, you can follow various users from the network, connect with your Facebook friends or manage notifications that you may receive inside the app. The app also lets you automatically save shots to your phone so you can access them later.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The interface is okay but it needs some tips for new users and some more settings and features. |
Function7
The idea is nice but users should be able to share content only to certain people or react to pictures with text also not just other images. |
Security7
It doesn't need more permissions that Facebook which is a good thing but it should allow other people than Facebook users to sign in. |
Battery6
However, consumption is almost the same as for Facebook so keep your phone plugged in if possible. |
Price10
The app is completely free of charge, no ads or in-app purchases whatsoever. |
Compatibility7
It should work on devices running Android version 4.1 or later. |
It's a cute idea but it needs some more work.
