Retro Camera Live 3.11
Others provide a more simplistic UI, but focus on offering specific tools. One of such apps is Retro Camera Live. It's the best choice if you're looking for a few filters and frames that you can apply in the camera mode. But don't expect much from this app.
Simplistic and dated UI with some options
It doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, the app launches directly with the camera mode. It also doesn't have a settings menu, which means that you can't make any changes to the UI or to pictures.
You can't change image resolution, which is quite poor. You also can't pick the destination folder on your phone, so pictures are automatically saved in a separate folder that the app creates.
Snap pictures easily
The reason why this app is so easy to use is because it lacks complex features and sections. You can only pick a filter from one of the five packs displayed on the bottom of the camera.
It doesn't have a randomize icon that you can use and the filters are quite common, in the sense that there's nothing special about them. It comes with a few frames, but they follow the retro theme of the app. You can enable the flashlight and switch between cameras on your phone. Other than that the app doesn't really come with any additional features.
Load pictures and apply filters
You can access your gallery to load all sort of images inside the app and apply filters on it. Frames are available in the photo editor section, but the app doesn't have any additional options.
You can't add text, adjust brightness, saturation, contrast. Blur can't be applied and the app doesn't have any stickers or other tools to help customize photos a bit. You can however cut pictures as to make them suitable for posting on Instagram.
In fact, after images are saved you have the option of tapping on a shortcut for sharing on the popular social network. The image quality is poorer than that of the original picture.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The UI could use an update, with a nicer layout and a settings menu filled with all sort of tools that you could use. |
Function7
It only has a few filters and frames, but lacks all other options that many would have found useful especially since it also has an editor. |
Security8
It shouldn't pose any privacy issues, the app only needs access to areas of your phone that are connected to its features. |
Battery8
Consumption is moderate, don't worry about the app draining your resources since it doesn't have the capacity to do so. |
Price6
It has annoying banner and popup ads and no option of removing them with an upgrade. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 4.0.3 or later, making the app available to many users. |
It's missing some essential features and it's filled with ads.
