Photo Effects Pro 3.0.2
Interface that could use an upgrade
Considering the high number of photography apps, the only way in which apps can get ahead is if they come with a great interface and unique features. Photo Effects Pro opens with a dull and dated interface.
Icons are gray and hardly noticeable on the dark background, leaving users thinking that they might be locked and only functional with an upgrade. There are no instructions, so you'd have to figure this app out by yourself. Still, it should be intuitive enough so that new users wouldn't have any trouble with it.
Load or snap pictures to edit them
With the tap of one finger, you can snap a picture or load one from your gallery. There are some settings that you can do to the app, like adjust corner styles and sizes and change the image size.
The editor features many options but it comes with a dull UI. The toolbar on the bottom offers access to all tools, but there are no previews. You can crop, rotate, flip or adjust brightness of pictures. Contrast and saturation can also be adjusted.
Add filters, effects and memes
Filters are features in a list, so you'd have to tap on them for more details but some previews would have been useful. The same goes with effects, as they featured on the right of the screen. Still, you can choose from more than 40 filters and effects, but we've seen better than these ones. Stickers come in the form of memes, which you can add to pictures. There's the option of enlarging, rotating and flipping them.
They aren't few but more would have been needed. Text can be added and you can use the editor to draw on pictures or add funny backgrounds, but not all of them are fitted to pictures. After you've saved the picture to your device, you may share it with friends or set it as your wallpaper. The app also comes with the picture-in-picture feature.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
While the interface is highly functional and intuitive, it's very dull and in need of an upgrade. |
Function7
More effects and filters would have been nice, the app is rather limited when it comes to editing tools. |
Security9
It only needs access to your media files, making this a safe app. |
Battery7
Consumption is slightly higher than other similar apps, so keep an eye on resources. |
Price8
Completely free of charge, but comes with annoying pop-up ads even during editing. There's no option of removing them. |
Compatibility8
It should work just fine on devices running Android version 3.0 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
It clearly needs some improvements.
