Horizon Camera 1.5.0.5
Cute interface for a simplistic app
It seems that developers of this app were mainly concerned with providing a simplistic camera application with the sole purpose of helping you record videos with the perfect screen orientation, even if your hands shake or you rotate the phone.
Therefore, the interface is pretty simplistic itself, with only a few tips to get your started and the option of upgrading to a premium version for 0.98$, in order to unlock new features inside the app. A premium version would get you unlimited recording duration, no Horizon logo in videos, priority support, free access to future features and no more nagging messages to upgrade.
Customize the camera
Before you actually start using the app and testing the camera, you should tweak settings and make sure they meet your preferences. You have the option of adjusting the resolution for both cameras on your device or adjust video quality in order to record videos of the highest or lowest quality.
Screen orientation can also be adjusted, choose from vertical, horizontal or have the app decide and tap on auto. Adjust zoom speed and motion sensors on the camera, by selecting between accelerometer or gravity sensors. The app can also be set to automatically hide the navigation bar. It also comes with a calibration feature that lets you correct your motion sensor readings.
Record videos
The recording menu is actually simple, tap on the large icon to record and the one next to it to open recently created videos. You can enable flash or switch between cameras instantly. There's also a shortcut to settings, so you won't have to search for them long.
Other than that, the app comes with an icon that randomly switches between modes, until you find the settings that you need. Recordings only last for 30 seconds, but that's plenty of time to make short videos.
Rotate the camera and the focus still remains on the image and the app doesn't lose orientation. Still, keep in mind that if you uninstall the app from your device it will automatically delete your videos from the SD card, so make sure to back up your data.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The interface is really neat, with tips and instructions for new users to get accustomed to the app faster. |
Function9
It works just fine and does what it promises to do, maintain orientation even if the phone is rotated. |
Security9
No online registration is needed, the app doesn't impose any privacy risks. |
Battery8
It doesn't take up that much battery even if it's a camera app and considering that videos are limited to 30 seconds, it doesn't really have the potential of draining your battery. |
Price9
No ads but it comes with in-app purchases, 0.98$ for the premium version that includes lots of perks. |
Compatibility6
It needs devices running Android version 4.3 or later, making it inaccessible to some users. |
A neat camera app, a must have during vacations and when filming impromptu videos.
