Filter Editor 1.0.3
However, some photography apps are a bit more complex while others specialize on providing users with many features from a certain category. Filter Editor is one of such apps, as it has a whole array of tools but it's missing some basic features that almost all editors have.
Sleek design but with few features
The first thing that you'll notice when you first launch the app is that it has a minimal design. It does however have a really nice background image, sporting a nice filter which is a good thing.
But it comes with shortcuts to sections filled with other applications created by the same developer and the app has banner ads on the bottom of the screen. It has a menu but it doesn't have a help or FAQ section for new users to check out when they first launch the app.
Apply filters to all sorts of pictures
You can either snap pictures instantly or import an image from your gallery and start editing it. Filter Editor app comes with 8 kinds of crop ratios and the free style if you wish to keep the original ratio of your picture.
After you pick the ratio of your image you can start applying filters. Pick one out of the 48 types available, they're all arranged into 6 categories including polaroid, fashion, lomo and film.
You can adjust the transparency of filters by dragging the bar on the screen. The filters are really nice but they're not spectacular and frankly we've seen better. An icon lets you see the before and after images and when you're done editing you can save and share images with friends.
Some shortcomings
The app doesn't really have any additional features aside from the filters it offers which is quite a disadvantage since many photography apps have at least some basic tools for adjusting the picture's brightness, saturation or contrast.
It also reduces the quality of pictures that you've taken and automatically saves them as .jpg without letting you choose another format. Moreover, some of the filters are locked and you can only gain access to them if you share the app with friends. It also lacks stickers and frames to add to pictures.
