Home screen widgets make it easy to view and access content directly from the screen without having to open or scroll through sections in an app. The downside is that the space for displaying information is rather small, so if you want to access more you'll need to open the app. Still, widgets are great for getting weather forecasts, the latest headlines or entries in your calendar. Fancy Widgets provides you with a gallery of widgets to choose from.

Simple interface with nothing to make it stand out

The app doesn't come with any instructions of use, so you'll be left with finding widgets and adjusting settings on your own. Still, you can choose from multiple languages for the UI but have the app display city names and weather in English.

But before you start placing widgets on your screen, you should adjust settings and determine gestures for managing the app. Namely, what a tap on a certain section does, whether it opens settings or launches a specific section.

Customize the information displayed on the widget

The app offers your many ways in which you can customize the information you receive. Although, it displays mainly the date, time, weather and location, you may apply many settings to the widget. There's the option of adjusting date and hour formats or displaying additional information like day/week number or battery levels.

There's only a weather provider to choose from, Accuweather and you can set your location for more accurate information. Temperatures may be displayed in Celsius and you can adjust the unit of measurement for wind speed.

Choose from multiple skins

You can adjust the widget text color or hide elements that it displays. In addition to that, there's the option of selecting different skins for the clock and weather elements. Adjust the refresh interval to your preference and limit battery usage.

The app comes with one default skin but you can download more free ones if you wish. You can also have the background to be transparent or adjust the size of the widget. Fancy has widgets in all sizes, but sadly the animation and overall look of the widget seems dated.
