Intuitive UI with only a few options but well placed at hand
There's no tutorial or instructions of use, but all icons are well placed at the side of the screen. The app launches with an ad for the newest games and other applications created by the developer. It displays plenty of banner ads and even some full screen ones, also it didn't forget about the nagging message for rating the app on Google Play Store, but most apps do the same. Cartoon Camera manages to differentiate itself from other such apps with filters that resemble real sketches.
Turn pictures into cartoons
The app comes with some flaws, but it's really easy to use. It opens your camera and applies a certain filter to make images resemble sketches or cartoons. The brush icon lets you shift through various filters, including color drawing, sepia, white strokes, colored edges and pencil sketches.
In total there are 12 effects. The edge strength is adjustable, from the slider on the right of the screen, while the one of the left can be used to adjust color sensitivity/saturation. The app supports auto focus, you must simply tap anywhere on the screen.
More features available in the pro version
There's no zoom focus, still you can use the camera flash to shed some light on images. Pictures are saved in a specific folder in your gallery and you have quick access to them by tapping on an icon. Still, you can use the app to turn regular pics from your phone gallery into cartoons or sketches.
While the free version performs well and provides you with all the tools needed for creating artistic sketches, you may want to try more effects. The pro version is priced at 1.29$ and comes with more filters and no ads.
