Big 5 Personality Test 1.5
Simplistic interface that makes it easy to take the test
The GUI is really simplistic and comes in dull colors and with almost no tools whatsoever. The background can't be changed and the font size cannot be adjusted, even if it would have been useful to zoom in on text.
In addition to that, the layout is ill-fitted for smartphones with smaller screens, leaving half a page blank. Obviously, the app works best on tablets. The test can be taken in several languages, including Italian and German.
The five factor model
The app opens with a short introduction on how the assessment of your traits is made. The five factor model focuses on the top five traits that best describes people, like openness to change, conscientiousness and extroversion.
The app will provide percentages of how high you've scored for all these factors. In addition, it displays an inspirational quote on the bottom of each page. The test will make you answer to 50 questions and it provides you with alternative responses that best fit your personality.
There's a progress bar and the questions are numbered, but the app doesn't provide an estimation on how long the test would take and you can't go back to change an answer in case you tapped on the wrong one.
Detailed results on your personality traits
It doesn't take more than 5 minutes to answer all the questions an afterwards the app opens a graphic report with your scores based on the five traits. Your responses are compared to those of a larger international group, or so does the app say.
There's also an icon with three types of analysis: normative, ipsative or dual, but the app doesn't explain them, nor does it make any changes after you tap on one. However, results are well-explained, with details and traits that best describe you. There's also a section that explains your work ethic and how conscientious or self-disciplined you really are, together with your relationship skills.
The results are rather accurate and at least in my case, the app managed to describe the main traits of my personality. However, keep in mind that the results can be saved only after you're finished with the test and only on a SD card.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
Simplistic design, with many layout flaws. The approximate duration of tests isn't specified and the app doesn't let you know that it won't save any of your progress. |
Function8
The questions are brief and don't take long to answer, while test results are quite accurate and very detailed. |
Security9
It requires few permissions from your device, no online registration and results can be saved on your phone. |
Battery6
A battery drainer, but you won't be spending much time on this app anyway. |
Price8
It comes with banner ads and no option of removing them. |
Compatibility10
It requires Android version 1.6 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
Simplistic design and layout flaws, but accurate and detailed results.
