8FACT 2.0.5
8FACT is one of the best applications with facts and also probably the simplest and most stylish entertainment apps we've seen so far.
Sleek and lightweight interface
We've tested our fair share of entertainment apps here and noticed that some of them faced issues with stability or had sections that didn't really work properly. Some of them even faced stability issues and would crash when you accessed the menu.
But 8FACT is quite a stable app that doesn't seem to have such issues. It comes with plenty of instructions to get you going, but it's not that complex so you'll soon go through the tips and start reading facts. It doesn't really have a menu or any settings, but is a disadvantage seeing how normally Android applications have at least a menu with details about the app.
Read all sorts of interesting facts
The concept behind the app is pretty simple, users are provided with interesting facts of just a few words or sentences. They're arranged into stacks of cards, with neat pictures behind the text and a website logo on the bottom. In order to get to the next card, you simply need to swipe the screen right or left.
The app saves the card into a separate section if you swipe right and dismisses them if you swipe left. There's a share icon on the bottom of the screen, use it to copy the link to the clipboard or share the image with friends.
Some shortcomings
The app doesn't let you save cards to your device, you can only check them out in the separate favorites section. You can share them from inside the favorites section or remove them completely.
Other than that, there aren't many things that you can do inside the app, but reload the whole stack of cards and lets you watch them again. It's the only way you can save a card that you've dismissed by mistake.
All in all, the app is pretty nice but it could use some more features and tools. It's updated daily and it doesn't need online registration, like the website does.
