Tidy GUI, easy to work with
The application is equipped with a pretty neat interface that is very much practical, but without ruling out completely the visual appeal. The graphics are well designed and the content is presented in a very well structured manner.
All the controls and functions are kept at hand, so you can access them from the main menu hosted in the lower side of the screen. Browsing the articles is fairly fluent, but when exiting an opened story a short delay becomes noticeable.
Browse and search news on the fly
Social News brings you the latest articles in the home screen and there is another section that hosts the trending news which you can go through with ease. When opening any of the listed stories you will have at your fingertips the short article and the photo or video attached to it.
Checking out the comments and adding some of your own can be easily done, provided you are connected to Facebook, the same requirement that needs to be fulfilled when posting your own scoop.
The built-in search engine is very responsive and will display the results promptly, provided that any are available for the query term(s) you input. With this app you can also get the news from the authors you are following on Facebook, as these articles are shown in a separate area of the utility.
Map view and article sharing capabilities
The application is ready to offer a comprehensive perspective of all the news pieces published by people worldwide. More precisely, by tapping the map shown in the home screen you will see all the posts highlighted, even though it may take a while to load all of them.
In case you come across an article you really like and want to let your friends know about it, Social News is able to send out the link via email, SMS or through the social networks you subscribed to.
