Phone recording 1.6.0.0

A convenient tool for capturing sound form the handset's microphone and editing the recordings
One of the many uses of a mobile phone can involve the recording of audio through the built-in mic, but in order for this to happen, a specialized utility must be installed on the respective device.

Windows Phone owners have a varied choice in this respect, as there are numerous apps of this kind in the Store and among them there is a utility suggestively called Phone recording.

Plain looks, bent on practicality

The simple front-end seems a bit rough around the edges, as the visuals are definitely not its strong point, especially considering the in-app advertisements that appear in every screen.

However, the ease of use seems to compensate much of the first less positive impression and with one tap on the microphone button you can start the recording session.

The conveniently placed commands and the good organization of the content are the main assets of Phone recording, at least from the visual point of view.

Record audio and manage files

If triggering the audio capture takes only one tap while the capture is active you can view inside the generous workspace the waveform that represents the sound levels.

A neat ability of this utility is that it works with the screen locked and the sound tracks can be easily transferred to the Music library on your Windows Phone handset.

Every file you save has by default a name that consists of the date and time, but this can me modified very easily if you head on to the "Document List" area and start editing the items stored in the app's database.

Playing the audio acquired with Phone recording can be done right form the main screen, where a set of basic controls appear after the capture is complete.

Edit captured sound on the fly

Every item you select individually can be modified and the editing options make it possible for you to trim the length of the sound file in a convenient manner. Thus, by moving the beginning and ending points you can cut a portion of the audio and have it saved under a different name.

There is a feature that is meant to help you upload the recordings to your OneDrive account, but the waiting time for this operation is longer than expected, so even smaller files will be transferred with a noticeable delay.

As an audio capture and editor, the utility is pretty neat, while the sharing and transfer options are scarce.

Security8

Besides the system areas that are related to its functionality, the app requires access to some that have nothing to do with its features.

The impact this app has over the power consumption is considerable average and the battery usage could is constantly on the rise.

The feature set can be enjoyed freely, without having to pay for anything, but there are many irritating adverts inside.

Most Windows Phone users will be able to enjoy this app onto their handsets, as it requires Windows Phone 8 or above to run.
