PasswordSafe 1.1.0.1

A safe box for storing login credentials to have them at hand and protected on the phone
One of the concerns of the modern days is the security of private information and many people choose to resort to specialized tools that can ensure the safety of their data.

For those who need one such utility to install onto their Windows Phone, one of the possible candidates is PasswordSafe, an application for which the name pretty much sums it all up.

Simple and unadorned front-end

This app comes with a relatively simple and unadorned interface, but it features some carefully designed graphics which are consistent from end to end. The information you add is kept at hand and accessible from the main screen.

The layout seems fairly well organized, though, with all the functions and commands conveniently placed for easy access. The navigation through the password list and the various sections of the application is seamless and without any sort of delays.

Quickly add the passwords and manage them

PasswordSafe offers a straightforward method of adding and taking care of your credentials, so you should have no problems in adding the necessary information and then editing or disposing of it if needed.

For each item you store you can assign a name and then insert the user ID or username along with the corresponding password. There are no categories, not will you be able to create custom folders, so all the data remains inside the same main screen.

Fortunately, you will be able to export the data to OneDrive and have it ready for restoration in case the local database is somehow corrupted or lost.

Security setup and potential issues

When launching the app for the first time you will be prompted to choose a 4-digit PIN code to access the utility and also select a security question and provide the corresponding answer as a password recovery measure.

Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks form the security point of view and the first one is that when typing in the PIN code the digits are not hidden, so anyone can view them.

Another letdown is caused by the fact that when resuming PasswordSafe form the list of recently used apps the access code is no longer required.

To shutdown the application the best thing you can do is go to that list and close it from there, because the "Back" button simply retraces your steps and this can be quite irritating.
