Instant Tiles 1.0.4.1
The application is leaning more towards the functional side, but still offers some nice looking transparent tiles ready to be pinned on the fly.
Friendly and intuitive GUI
This utility is evidently focusing on practical use and practicality rather than on good looks, as it has common interface, without any graphical elements to stand out. Still, the graphics are decent, even if lacking eye-candy elements.
The large shortcut tiles the application comes with are neatly stacked in two columns, so you can easily access any of them from the main screen.
Some occasional reminders that prompt you to rate and review Instant Tiles will start to come into view after one or two uses and they appear at startup only on rare cases, thus being less annoying than the ads and prompts shown by most applications.
Tap and hold to create shortcuts
Stacked against other similar tools, this app has a rather short list of system areas it can link to, remaining focused on covering mostly networking related settings.
Thus, you have at your disposal quick links to the Bluetooth, WiFi, Cellular + SIM, Airplane Mode and Location services. Each of these can be opened with one tap from the application's main screen as well as using the tiles you pin by hand.
In order to have any of these shortcuts sent to the Start screen of your Windows Phone handset you just have to hold for a few seconds the respective tile and it will be sent there automatically.
Resize tiles to any desired dimension
A neat thing about Instant Tiles is that you will be able to enjoy all three sizes for each of the items you add, as the small, medium and wide tile sizes are all supported.
In case you were looking to get some info about the current status of components like the wireless connection or the location services, this is, unfortunately, not possible because the application doesn't provide this kind of details, at least not at this time.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The appearance of the application is decently designed, without bells and whistles, but well organized and easy to work with. |
Function5
There are only a few system shortcuts inside, so despite the usefulness of many of them, Instant Tiles needs more features. |
Security8
This application stays well off most system areas where sensitive data is stored, but it still needs to access two of them, namely the phone and owner identity. |
Battery8
The relatively reduced power consumption rarely peaks at moderate levels while the utility is running, so the battery usage is well within normal limits. |
Price10
An excellent deal by any standards, this app is easy to use and offers everything free of costs and nuisances. |
Compatibility10
Instant Tiles is designed to work on most Windows Phone powered handsets in existence, as it only needs version 7.5 of the OS. |
