This is a decent phone but I have to say it is a bit boring. It doesnt have many themes to it and when you have a phone for 18 months you like to change it around a bit. Also texting can be a bit frustrating. The worse thing about this phone is the battery. Sometimes it can last a day and a half, othertimes it will last 5 hours but it doesnt give you any warning that it is about to run out. 5/10.

This is not a smartphone. Though the hardware is decent enough, it could only do with a slightly more sensitive touch screen, the software is a huge frustrating drawback on this phone.

    Major annoyances:
Does not remember if you have predictive text on.
The typing keyboard is far too small. Unless you have tiny thumbs it will be a nuisance to type accurately. Most smartphones have the sense to space out the keys I've found.
The 3G capability claimed is locked off to only work through Orange Maps, which is an extra charge every month. No other application is able to access it.
The MP3 player will ALWAYS sort songs in alphabetical title order with no option to change this. The joke being it uses the Tag3 information to find the title so you can't even trick it easily by including numbers on the file names.
The auto focus takes too long and doesn't work well.
The keypad locking is a complete nuisance and always seems to make keypad operated phonelines a journey through frustration.
Java permissions cannot be set, so java applications are forced to ALWAYS ask whether you want to give them permission.
Very little ability to customise the interface, the few widgets on offers are pointless or useless. They can't be augmented with other java apps. Can't even change the order or colour of menus.
It losses signal often, and takes along time on "emergency call only" when trying to go between 3G or 3G+.
The battery life can be terribly shoddy if you use the camera at all.

There is very little to recommend the software on this phone, and as it is LG proprietary stuff it is unlikely to ever see any major revision or improvement during the 2 years I'm stuck with it.

Throw in very poor customer service from Orange and this is easily the most annoying phone I've ever owned.

That all said it is probably fine for someone who just wants to make a few calls and doesn't really want a smartphone or decently designed software.

It could have all been solved by installing Windows Mobile/Google Android or Symbian.

I like the phone generally as a piece of hardware, but I'm struggling to get it to work for me the way i wanted - in particular the push notifications for social networks. LG seemed to make a deal out of this in the pre-release press shizzle, but now i've got the phone, cant find any such functionality. Or am i missing something?

I have had the GT505 for a few days now and it is a good phone, but there are a few issues.
There is little to no support for this phone, even the LG website is lacking.

On a more positive note the general phone navigation and sms input is great, the touchscreen is a bit resistive at first then when your used to it, it's quite fun to text.

The battery life is quite annoying as it seems to run out all of a suden without warning.

The browser on the phone is nice and clear and allows for auto landscape when the phone is rotated.

All in all this is a good phone for browsing, texting and for a alternative to sat nav as has a built in A-GPS

The phone is great for the money it costs, however it does not compare with the sony-ericsson P800 i have had for 5 years now.
there is still much room for improvment in the firmware
