Taking pictures that look professional is easier nowadays than it has ever been, mostly thanks to the highly performant phone cameras The many apps that have been created in the meantime have only helped people create great-looking pictures with the help of filters and various other photo editing features.

Pomelo is one of these apps; a powerful tool that can be used to create great-looking pictures in just a few steps.

The app comes with several capabilities. On one hand, it can take pictures from your Camera Roll and help you turn them into masterpieces with just a few filters. On the other hand, it can help you take such pictures by providing you with a Camera tool with live filters.

Live filters

Basically, you’ll just have to turn on the camera from the app, scroll through the filters in the lower area and point the phone towards the desired target. These can be shot in the default manner or in square format, depending on what you desire. The filters, however, are the same for both options.

There are also easy-access buttons for the flash, a screen grid and to access the front camera if you want to play around with some selfies.

The other option is to load a picture from your Camera Roll and tap the “Edit” button. There, too, you’ll be able to fiddle with various filter categories and then with the many options filed under them. An extra tap will bring up a sliding bar which you can use to adjust the intensity of the filter.

The ribbon underneath it all, with an arrow on it, will expand to expose some additional editing features. For instance, it’s possible to adjust the brightness, contrast, temperature, sharpness, and fade levels, as well as to add a tilt-shift, crop or rotate the picture.

Share it

The resulting pictures can be saved to the camera roll and shared to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, as well as via text or email, as well as via any other app you may have in the Share feature.

The app’s settings enable you to choose the image quality and whether the app should save the original photo and the resulting images to the Pomelo album.

Overall, this is a nice app, with plenty of free filters to play with. Some additional ones are available if you share info about the app on social media, whether that’s Instagram or Facebook.
