Facebook launched Bots on Messenger earlier this year, and it seems that the new service continues to gain popularity. As it turns out, Yahoo has just recently announced that it is bringing its news, weather, monkey and finance bots to Facebook Messenger.

The company has made an announcement on its Tumblr account and has revealed that the bots will help users stay connected to the world. They are algorithmically-driven and allow users to get the content that interests them the most. The bots let them follow market trends or view weather forecasts, without leaving Messenger.

In fact, this is the main advantage of bots, since they provide additional functionality so that the user wouldn’t have to switch to another application to get specific information. In this regard, Facebook also made SMS available in its Messenger app for Android so that users spend as much time in the application as possible.

Yahoo states that it has released Yahoo Finance (@YahooFinance) bot, which allows users to read finance news and share information. @YahooNews bot helps them find trending stories and read all sorts of articles. Specific news articles can be shared with friends directly in Facebook’s Messenger app.

In addition, @YahooWeather lets users check the weather forecast, caption and share Flickr images with friends on Messenger. Last but not least, Yahoo has also made @MonkeyPet bot available. It’s a virtual pet monkey that can be used for sharing selfies from its “travels.”
