Xiaomi will launch another flagship in a few months

A few days ago Xioami teased the announcement of its upcoming Mi5 flagship while also confirming that the phone would come with a fingerprint scanner. Well, today we get to take a look at a leaked image which supposedly showcases the upcoming phone. Or at least, its back.

Chinese website Mobile Dad (via GSM Dome) claims to have stumbled upon an image of the Mi5, which apparently boasts a rear cover curved at the sides just like the Samsung Galaxy Note5 does. The bottom speakers are also visible.

The rumor mill has been buzzing around trying to figure out when Xiaomi plans to launch the device and the latest information indicates that September 24 will be the day of choice.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi5 Plus is expected to be the first handset to launch with Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 810 platform.

Since the Snapdragon 820 should start shipping in December, the first products bundling this platform will start appearing in March 2016. And doesn’t it make sense that Xiaomi will want to unveil the Mi5 and Mi5 Plus at the same time, just like Apple launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (and soon the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus)?

Other rumored specs include a 5.3-inch display (possibly) with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), 3GB/4GB of RAM, a 16MP front-facing camera (with OIS or Optical Image Stabilization) and a USB Type-C port.
