Uber has become a really popular service that provides users with multiple advantages over regular cabs when needing to get around the city. Users also prefer the convenience of the Uber service. Now, it seems that the company will be implementing some new features inside the application.

Uber has announced in a press release that it has introduced upfront fares to regular uberX trips in cities across the US and even in India. The fare guarantee shows users exactly how much they will be paying for the ride, exactly as it’s presented in UberPool rides. Users simply need to make sure the pickup location is accurate, and then they are required to enter their destination so that Uber can calculate their exact fare.

Uber has mentioned that upfront fares are calculated by taking many factors into account, such as the expected time and distance of the trip and local traffic. It also takes into consideration the number of riders and the nearby drivers who use Uber at that given time.

Moreover, when fares go up because of increased demand, Uber displays the actual fare before they request a ride, instead of surge lightning bolts and pop-up screens.

The feature is designed to make it easier for riders to see the price that they’re about to pay. However, some users choose to reopen the app after a few minutes in order to eliminate the surge. A small text on the screen will show if surge pricing is in effect, but the application won’t mention how much higher prices will be due to the increased demand.

Aside from surge pricing complaints, the company was also under fire last year, when Uber trip information was exposed via Google searches.
