The Punkt MP01 is what could be called a “dumb phone”

Remember the Janus One, a feature phone that wants to simplify your life in a smart way? Well, we just discovered a twin of this device, at least concept-wise.

The Punkt MP01 is another minimalist phone that will only help you achieve the essentials. That means no web browsing or streaming media.

Still, the Punkt MP01 can help you make phone calls and send text messages. It can also be used to access your contacts (obviously) and it can act as an alarm clock and a calendar.

Spec-wise, the MP01 features a 2-inch Gorilla Glass LCD display and can offer up to 290 minutes of talk time. It will also last up to four weeks on standby.

By comparison, the Janus One was said to be able to last up to 3 months without recharging, but we are yet to see whether this is really the case since the phone has yet to ship out to consumers.

But if you want a phone that will keep you away from all of this noise, the Punk MP01 seems like a decent alternative. Until you see its price tag.

Apparently, the device is expected to arrive on the market in September with a price tag of $295 / €266. That’s a bit too much for our taste. Especially considering that, if you go to Kickstarter and pledge for the Janus One, you’ll be able to get it for only $69 / €60.
