A teardown revealed the Watch’s well-kept secret

Huawei has launched its (smart) Watch product on the market and customers can pick it up for the pretty steep price tag of $350 / €306. While the Huawei Watch might look like your usual (but gorgeous) Android Wear smartwatch, the device does come with a rather unique feature.

As the folks at Android Police discovered, the wearable bundles a speaker. Why is that, you might ask. We really don’t have a clue. Android Wear doesn’t currently support audio output through a speaker, but it’s possible for you to pair Bluetooth headphones with an Android Wear device and listen to music or whatever.

Nevertheless, there’s no native support for speakers, so why does the Huawei Watch have one?

There are a few possibilities. Maybe, Huawei is planning to roll out a special app that makes use of the speaker. Or maybe Huawei knows that Google will be adding support for it in the future. Did the speaker end up into the gadget by accident (we jest)?

From all we have cited above, the most realistic scenario is that the speaker will be activated via a future update. Google has been known to add new feats via Android Wear updates, so we’ll just have to wait and see how this scenario plays out exactly.
